About Me

 Indigoranges by Rohit Bhasi

Hi there,

This is Rohit Bhasi. I am a Bengaluru based illustrator, painter, mural artist and occasionally a graphic designer (now you know where digital lies in my scheme of things). I also used to write a lot once, but oh well.

My body of work is a personal response and interpretation of the various myths, tales and belief systems that I have come across in various forms. In other words, a humble endeavour to celebrate people and cultures, and their evolving relationships with the world around them.

Looking at the ancient through a contemporary lens, that's what this is all about.

The human body in all its beauty and imperfections, and the human mind with all its potential for creation, destruction and spinning stories, have always been my biggest muses. Guess that explains a leaning towards performing arts and artistes in general.

Some of my work can be seen here

Now this is where I gently lead you to my other life as part of a theatre ensemble.

Kaavad Katha | Still Space Theatre | The Actor's Conservatory

I used to be part of a Bengaluru based theatre company called Still Space Theatre (SST).  In 2022, it evolved into what is now known as The Actors Conservatory. What I used to do at SST was create original artwork for the productions, design posters and publicity collateral, and manage their social accounts. And it's a privilege to have worked on similar design projects for many Bangalore and Chennai based theatre groups and performing artistes.

At SST, one of the major and most popular productions me and Akhshay Gandhi (chief don of SST and now the conservatory) was the Kaavad Katha - a reimagination of the ancient storytelling form of Rajasthan. More on that here.
